More About Albany, New York
MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Albany is interesting. The New York State Capitol Building in 1899 was the most expensive government structure of its kind. A whopping $25 million. Holy Robber Barons, Batman! That would have bought a lot of nineteenth-century windmills in Holland. But, for over a hundred years to Albany’s great aesthetic pleasure, citizens have a real regal site to behold. Then, between 1965 and 1978, the Empire State Plaza was built, modeled on Brasilia’s National Congress complex. So, Albanyites have, at least, two grand civic properties to please the eye. Few people outside of New York State realize that Albany is a technology center, especially for nanotechnology. Other technologies, too. There is an artists’ community with galleries and antiquarian book shops. And, for balance, there are plenty of sports to go around, too.
