Albany, New York was explored by Henry Hudson during 1609. In this city was once a settlement called Fort Orange. Albany was recognized as a city thanks to Thomas Dongan.

Ben Franklin was in Albany creating the Albany Plan of Union sometime during 1754; this venture helped with the establishment of the First Continental Congress. Albany became New York’s capital during 1797.

William Alexander surmised in 1783, after his envolvement with the Revolutionary War.

The Erie Canal was erected in 1825.

Martin Van Buren, Grover Cleveland and Franklin Roosevelt all helped shape the history of Albany, New York. However, Albany got its name for the sole purpose of honoring the Duke of York.

1899 was the year that automobiles came to Albany, New York.
